About Me
I’m Jess, an author, freelance journalist and editor based in Cambridgeshire. After my BA in English Literature and MA in Creative Writing, I worked as an editor of a print magazine, before diving into the world of freelancing. I’ve written for major national and international publications, worked on digital news desks and been published in print numerous times.

My work on culture, entertainment, grief, health and lifestyle has been featured in publications such as Rolling Stone, Elle, GQ, Dazed, The Guardian, Insider, Wonderland, The Telegraph, Total Film, Refinery29, Inverse, Curzon, Picturehouse Magazine, The Daily Beast, Woman & Home and the i.

Alongside this, I’ve worked on digital entertainment desks for Stylist, Huff Post UK, Radio Times, Digital Spy, Metro, OK! and The Mirror. For three years, I was also one of the lead writers at the quarterly print publication, The Happy Newspaper.

Previously, I had the honour of being one of the UN Women UK delegates at the Commission on the Status of Women for the past four years, and I've appeared on several panels at The Good Grief Festival, podcasts, spoken at the BFI and on various BBC Radio stations. I'm also a member of the London Film Critics Circle and the Online Association of Female Film Critics.

I keep track of the twists and turns of my life over on my socials and my Substack. In 2025, I wrote my first non-fiction book, I'm Just a Girl: How Reclaiming Girlhood Can Redefine Womanhood, which is being published with Little, Brown in June 2026. You can pre-order it now, wherever you buy your books (how wild!).

When I’m not writing, you can catch me binge-reading books, oversharing on Instagram, spinning, watching the latest Marvel movie, travelling or spending time with my family and friends.
